Real student outcomes.

A few examples of how I help students move from confusion to clarity in Python, data science, engineering, Excel, and technical projects.

All case studies below are anonymized by subject, level, and region. They describe the kind of work I actually do in sessions — not headline-grabbing salary numbers or company logos. Quotes are taken verbatim from real public reviews on Superprof.

Data Science exam support

Data Science student, Canada

Anonymized case study

Situation
Graduate-level data science student preparing for end-of-term exams covering applied statistics, model selection, and Python-based analysis.
Problem
Could follow the lectures but kept getting stuck when asked to translate a written problem into working code or to defend a modelling choice in writing.
Work
Weekly sessions walking through past exam questions out loud, building small reproducible notebooks for each technique, and rehearsing how to explain results back to a non-technical reader.
Outcome
Walked into the exam able to read each question, identify the right method, and write a defensible short answer instead of freezing on the code.

Ali possesses a deep understanding of data science concepts and tools, making complex topics easy to grasp. Without him, passing my exams was a nightmare.

Elnaz — Data Science student (Superprof review)
Python beginner to project confidence

Python beginner, USA

Anonymized case study

Situation
Adult learner with no programming background who wanted to be able to read and modify a Python script without copy-pasting from Stack Overflow.
Problem
Tutorials moved too fast and skipped over why something worked — variables, loops, and functions felt arbitrary.
Work
Built up from the smallest possible examples (one variable, one print, one loop) and let the student type every line themselves. Each session ended with a tiny working program they kept.
Outcome
Moved from "I can't code" to comfortably writing short scripts, debugging their own typos, and reading other people's Python without panic.

Ali is very knowledgeable and great at explaining concepts. Very patient and helpful with explaining python from basics to complex problems.

Geoff — Python student (Superprof review)
Excel and data analysis project support

Master’s student, Europe

Anonymized case study

Situation
Master’s student working on a coursework project that required cleaning a large spreadsheet, running summary statistics, and presenting the results to a supervisor.
Problem
The data was messy (inconsistent dates, blank rows, mixed units), and the student wasn’t sure which Excel features to reach for or how to explain the workflow afterwards.
Work
Sat together with the actual file, picked one column at a time, and built a repeatable cleaning + pivot workflow they could re-run on the next dataset. Reviewed how to narrate each step in the write-up.
Outcome
Submitted the project with a clean spreadsheet, a clear pivot summary, and a short written explanation of how each step was done.

Ali was pretty organized and detail oriented in explaining step by step. He is bright and patient. He always gives examples from the real life to make sure you fully understood his notion.

Alaa — Programming student (Superprof review)
Engineering / CAD / MATLAB support

Mechanical Engineering student, UK

Anonymized case study

Situation
Undergraduate mechanical engineering student working through a course that combined CAD modelling with MATLAB-based calculation assignments.
Problem
Could draw a part but struggled when the assignment asked them to also justify the geometry numerically — and MATLAB syntax kept getting in the way of the actual engineering.
Work
Split each assignment into two halves: the engineering reasoning first (on paper), then the implementation. Worked through MATLAB errors as a normal part of the process instead of treating them as failure.
Outcome
Finished the assignments with both a working model and a written justification, and stopped treating MATLAB errors as a personal problem.

I had the privilege of being tutored by Ali during my engineering course and I couldn’t have asked for a better tutor to guide me through the complexities of engineering. He never makes you feel rushed or overwhelmed.

These anonymized case studies reflect the kind of work I do with students in real sessions. As more students agree to share their experience, additional case studies will be added here.
